Destiny and Jordan | Summer Wedding

Capturing special moments is even more meaningful when I get to do it for people I’m close to. Destiny and I have been friends for a long time, through school, cheerleading, and dance. It was a perfect day for her and Jordan’s late summer wedding, and the rustic motif was right in season. It’s important to consider the timing of your wedding when choosing your décor and the overall feel of your event, especially if you’re planning for it to be outdoors. Destiny selected sunflowers for her bouquets and decor accents, and they complemented the overall atmosphere so well.

Destiny and Jordan’s day was sweet and simple, but big on love and family. The bride’s grandfather had the honor of walking both Destiny and her daughter Raelynn down the aisle. All of the guests were treated to a special surprise dance from Destiny’s younger brother. They slow danced together and the entire room was filled with tears. I thought this was such a neat thing for her brother to do.

Getting photos of guests having a great time isn’t the only thing I’ve done at receptions, I’ve been known to set down my camera and step in wherever a need emerges. While the bride and groom were having a great time celebrating with their guests, the cake needed cut, so my assistant and I jumped right in to help slice and serve the cake! I always try to do anything I can to make the day less stressful for the couple, and in this case I had a lot of fun helping out in an unexpected way. Raelynn really enjoyed the cake once it was served, and she was happy to dance the night away with her newlywed parents.

As the evening wound down, I snuck Destiny and Jordan away for some stunning photos in that golden hour right before the sun set. Once all of the formal events were complete, they capped off the night with a relaxing, chill bonfire. They truly took the time to cherish the special moments of their wedding day in ways that were enjoyable to them!

I’m pretty sure I had just as much fun at Destiny and Jordan’s wedding as the rest of their guests, and it was such an honor to get to create photographs that they can treasure together forever. Thanks so much for having me, Mr. and Mrs. Oates, I wish you and your family all the best!
