Watching love stories unfold and flourish has to be one of the greatest perks of being a photographer. Before I was their wedding photographer, I went to school with Emma and Bryce, and Emma and I even shared the stage for dance recitals. I’ve had the privilege of capturing memories for Emma through her high school and college graduations, several couples sessions with Bryce, their engagement photos, and now I was so honored to be invited to shoot their wedding!
Bryce and Emma celebrated their day at Magnolia Hill Farm, in Centerburg, Ohio. This venue has it all, and is one of my absolute favorites! Situated atop a grassy hill on a 10-acre working flower farm, the main venue is intentionally styled as a blank canvas, with gorgeous natural light and pristine white walls. This combination aligns so well with my personal style, allowing me to keep the photos light and airy, capturing movement and emotions, while keeping them crisp and allowing colors and details to pop. Charming backgrounds are everywhere you look, from manicured lawns and open fields, to the magnolia trees that bloom in early to late spring.
Magnolia Hill Farm is a perfect example of an “all-in-one” venue, where couples can have their entire day contained at a single location. A major perk of hosting everything in one spot is the amount of precious time that is saved. Getting ready on site is a major time saver for bridal parties and their families, allowing them more time for socializing, first looks, and any special moments they want to incorporate into their day. Magnolia Hill Farm boasts a spacious bride’s suite above the reception hall, and even a groom’s cottage! Guests also appreciate having the ceremony and reception in one location, as it saves them time and allows for a more relaxed transition. Often I see guests leave right after the ceremony when the reception is at a separate location, so if you reduce the amount of time people spend traveling, parking, etc., folks will appreciate the chance to really take in the moments and celebrate with you! As your photographer, it also allows me a better chance to get in behind the scenes and capture pictures of your reception details and decorations laid out perfectly before the party gets started.
Emma took advantage of all the venue had to offer, and it wasn’t just her and Bryce who shared a first look. Her father and brother both had first look meetings, and she even surprised her bridesmaids with a gown reveal! When the bride and groom had their special moment away together, they used the time to share the private vows they had each written. Thoughtful and unique elements continued into their ceremony, where Emma’s brother officiated. Including family members in less traditional roles in your wedding ceremony just takes the special to the next level! Likewise, the moments you choose to include in your ceremony and reception should be a reflection of you as a couple and as individuals, and the traditions and relationships that matter to YOU as you celebrate YOUR love! There was no shortage of surprises at this ceremony, and after the traditional first dance and father-daughter dance, Emma took time to honor her mom with a mother daughter dance.
The fantastic DJ JOJO kept the party going as friends and family of the couple reveled and danced all night! Selecting the right vendors for your wedding is crucial, especially when they all communicate and work well together to make things go smoothly. The vendors chosen for this wedding were an absolute dream to work with, and made it super easy for me to do my job of being right where I need to be when the magic moments are happening.
